Her achievements as a child performer in America (which we refer to as Maureen O'Hara today) would have definitely put her into the category of child prodigies. It was an innate characteristic for a girl from Irish origin, and who was surrounded in her early days by talented family members as well as parents. Maureen entered this loving refuge located in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th 1920. She was the daughter of Marguerita Lililburn FitzSimons a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer team in Ireland, and also ran a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons was the child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons complete this wonderful family. Maureen excelled at sports and loved rough games. Her natural ability to perform was the perfect match for her interest in athletics. She took home almost all Feis Award for Drama and Theatre Performance that her country had to give. When she was fourteen, she was admitted into the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue operatic singing and classical theater.
